Ruane, Cunniff & Goldfarb is the investment firm founded in 1969 by William J. Ruane and Richard T. Cunniff. The firm manages its trademark Sequoia Fund, which has one of the best long-term performance records on Wall Street. The firm manages over $14 billion in assets. From the Sequoia Fund’s (SEQUX) inception in 1970 through June 2006, its average annual total return has been 15.68%. The fund has been closed to new investment since 1982.

Warren Buffett suggested long ago that The Sequoia fund be established so his partners and investors would have the opportunity to stay invested in the equity markets after he closed his investment partnership. Its investment objective is: "to achieve long-term growth of capital. In pursuing this objective, the fund focuses principally on common stocks that it believes are undervalued at the time of purchase and have potential for growth. A guiding principal is the consideration of common stocks as units of ownership of a business and the purchase of them when the price appears low in relation to the value of the total enterprise."

A. Thanks for the lead. In relation to
other mining companies of the same size
are HL financials and their future
mining considered strong? In researching
there are so many smaller mining
companies out there I am looking for
ones that are financially stable with
some good prospects. I also looked at
TGB. Any insights would be appreciated.
